What is Period Tax ?

“Period Tax” also known as “Tampon Tax” indicates the sales tax collected on menstrual products.

This gives the impression that menstrual products are a luxury, when in reality they are a basic necessity for menstruators: just like food and water. Eliminating this tax helps girls and women better afford the menstrual products they need during their cycles each month. Otherwise, the cost adds up and it can be too expensive for some.

Many countries still charge sales tax on period products. These countries include the U.S. (some states do exempt menstrual products from sales tax), Australia, Germany, and others.

We must bring awareness to this issue and encourage people to fight for the cause!
